Laverne Doughty - Digital Creative
Well if you are reading this you are keen to know a little bit more about me, then just whats on show.
I'll keep it brief but insightful.
I fell in love with art and design when I was 5, yep 5. I used to watch my dad sketch portraits of people and use his talents in calligraphy for my mums pickle labels. I used to try and copy him and to master his traits, but most of the time I couldn't match up to his level. I was always amazed to see how calm and relaxed he was when he was creating something, that for sure, is mimicked in my day-to-day life.
I was infatuated with Encarta back in the day when CD ROM's were the first sight into computing and animation, and I knew from then on I wanted a piece of that world.
I went on to study a BSC Multimedia Technology at the Technology Innovation Centre in Birmingham and learnt various skills that would assist me in the ever evolving world of digital media. From Graphic design, Web design, Programming, Video Production, Image processing and Electronics. It was perfect for me as I love variety.
Skip forward 10 years or so and I can happily say I have enjoyed each one of them and have been lucky to live a creative life that I enjoy. From Art Directing and designing for Sony, to creating content for The Gadget Show, a show I loved growing up with, to creating experiential ideas for retail stores.
One thing is for sure, I can always see the opportunity to create something worthwhile in every project.
